Many single men and women wonder if finding love online is really possible even at the age of 50. Surprising as it is but statistics show that one of the most active age groups for online dating is the age group 35-55. You just learned about it? Now that you know love is out there, the next thing you would wonder about is how you could get in the mix. I will tell you some ways how you could get noticed in dating or even social networking sites.

1.      Selecting your profile photo

Most people seeking love online always look at profile photos of other members. Sure, the physical attraction demands some level of attention but how you portray yourself in your photo is also very important. Would you choose fun photo or professional photo? Fun photos get more positive reception than professional photos. When you portray yourself in a fun and lively manner, most likely, you get the interest and attention of other members. Professional photos may be well taken but these do not get people to read your profile or get them to learn more about you. Remember, the main goal of your profile photo is to get people to read your profile and learn more about you.

2.      Include interests or favorites in your profile

When you’re putting together your dating site profile, a lot of questions arise. What to include in your profile is one. When someone is looking at your profile, for sure he or she is looking for something. By simply including your favorite foods, cities, restaurants, books or movies and your interests in hiking, camping, watching movies or gardening, you are establishing common grounds with others. For instance, one member who shares the same interest with you in hiking would be interested in getting to know you with the idea that somewhere down the road you could hook up and go hiking together. When someone has the same favorite restaurant as you, the idea of getting to know each other and potentially meeting up in such restaurant is very high.

3.      Show intellect in your profile and messages

How important are your grammar and spelling in your profile? Well, these simple mistakes can be a big turn off to others. It turns out that having a well written (correct spelling and grammar) profile or messages show you are smart and intelligent which is a turn on.  Always double check or read back over your profile information or messages before saving or sending.

4.      Always be honest

Many love seekers online resort to lying about some details about themselves for personal reasons or security. I don’t recommend this though. Being honest from the start shows sincerity and that’s what most people look for. Do not deceive people by putting your old photo just to show you look younger. Do not lie about your job. Honesty from the beginning will pay off in the long run and will not cause you worries. But try not to spill everything. You can do that after a while.
