Working at home is a great way to earn a full time or part time income. Navigating through opportunities that are real or fake sometimes is challenging. All of the advertisements paint pictures of rolling in the dough by working only thirty minutes a day. Can this truly happen? Here are three ways to identify potential work at home scams.

Email

Unsolicited emails that make it into your personal inbox often yield a response. Many catchy headlines may be clicked on. The sales letter sounds so personal, so promising, and it might be a scam. Some scams will ask for personal information to receive further information. Never divulge banking information, personal contact information, or any information that you don't feel good about sharing. Only purchase or sign up to work at home opportunities that you specifically have requested.

Ads

Ads that promise too much are usually scams. Some ads are legitiment but misleading. You will in fact be purchasing a product. This may be a short eBook, video series, or an elaborate plan to work at home. The eBook may be a guideline but not a source to fix a work at home problem or to start a home business. In order to make the income talked about in the eBook there may be additional software’s or products that need to be purchased before income can be earned as described in the product. Many products are in fact legitimate, but to earn income that can be used for bills may take several months of work.

Products

When buying products that promise to help you earn thousands of dollars a week from home, always read the fine print. Sometime what seems like a simple $20 eBook is far from that. The product itself is legitimate, however not understanding everything that is being purchased can be expensive. There may be reoccurring billing options, and you are in fact purchasing an eBook and monthly subscription. The subscription may be to gain access to a membership website or to receive an ezine. Always read the check marked boxes before making a purchase. Simply checking away may lead to paying for more than bargained for.

Working at home is possible. There are legitimate opportunities. They all require a substantial investment of time and energy. This could be a few minutes each day or several hours each day. Consistent efforts always pay off with legitimate opportunities. Use these tips to help avoid work at home scams.
