Introduction

Given the enviornmental issues and energy cost escalation, some may consider investing in Solar energy technology to address saving money in energy costs as well to swithch to renewable sources of energy to reduce their carbon inprint. Given the incetive system in Australia it will be an incentive to consider solar nergy system by many households in Australia.

However, they must ask some questions before embarking to switch to thsi source of energy. There are many factors to be considerd before making a decsion to invest in this gree technolgy in your home as a source of energy. The questions are as follws:

1. What is the current energy usage?

2. How quickly one wants to see a return?

3. What is the quantum or financial reward you can get from State and federal Government?

4. Is the Renewable energy Certificate or REC discount is locked in when you deposit?

5. Is the Solar energy system is appropriate to your situation and its appropriate to your energy needs?

6. Is installation done by a different company than the company quote for your solar system?

7. How much money you have budgetted for the solar system given the other priorities?

8. Is the installing company reputable and has the accreditation from Clean Energy Council?

9. Is the installer using correct DC Cable rather than AC cable?

10. Is the manafactuturer warranty is local and how the waranty claim is handled?

11. What is the lead time of installing the solar power system?

12. How the system is going to be maintained in the future?

13. What type of mounting the power system used and is it having a warranty?

13. Is the mounting of the system mid - and -end clamp ?

Ask the above question and seek an independent advise and critically evaluate the ansswers and see whether the answeres are more than satisfactory to you. If this is the case intall the power system. Otherwise do not jump in to the system and  consider other choices or an alternative system.
