Introduction

Obesity is becoming a major public health issue in developed and developing countries. Obesity refers to a persons body mass index which is not normal to the age of a person and the person is over weight. Obesity can be a serious contributor to other health issues. This is also a social and economic issue as it takes lot of resources and lost productivity. The causes of obesity is a complex matter. The causes of obesity can differ from peropn to person and there is no general csuses which is applicable to all individuals. However, some factors are common to all individuals, The ways to tackle obesity one msut get proper medical, psychological advise before they embark on specific therapies applicable to their individual situations and their biological, and medical conditions. If they are based on simple interventions based on common sense it may potentially become worse and it may harm then help a person to manage obesity persistenetly.

The major causes of obesity

The major cause of obesity irrespective of individual biological factors are increases energy intake from food and drinks and reduced physical activity. That is, Obesity is basically a environmentaly induced diesease as well as food habits and inclination to physical activity and overall reduction of physical activity at work, home and in leisure activities due to technological developmet reducing physical activity in modern life. That is, obesity is individual and social. For example obesity is more prevalent in developed nations than developing nations, which indicate it has a social component and life style is a factor.

Obesity and related diseases

Obesity also is realted to heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and cancer, which has a high component of nutritional factor.. As well due to decreased physical activity it also contribute to the possibility of coronary heart disease, colon cancer.

How to manage Obesity

The management of obesity depends on the age, medical conditions, medications, family situations, food habits, smoking, drug isees, physical activity at work and home, and genetic factors. The meneagent strategies must be carefully considred and one must get professional medical and other advise before taking appropriate therapies and life style changes which are compatible with their individual situations and conditions. However, as discuassed above obesity must consider nutritional and physical activity as a common component in their management of obesity as it is the major cause of obesity in many individuals. As obeity is related diseases which can cause even death and can be preventable if a person is obease it is advisable to take action to manage obesity practically as possible to reduce other diseases related to onesity and can improve their quality of life. As discussed above, obesity is a major public health issue and if individuals can take appropriate action it can benefit them as well as society in general.
