Hello. This is my article for first-time dads. Some of you might think it will be easy, some of you might think it will be hard. The joy of fatherhood is like nothing else in the world. It has its ups and downs. I can definitely say that
I would not change it for the world.

Now I will say that at the time of this writing my son is only 11 1/2 months old. Anything after that age, I do not know what to expect. All the knowledge I have and offer you is up to this point.

The first time you see the baby come into the world from his/her momma you WILL be surprised. It WILL make you feel a little funny. You will see things you've never seen before.

That first diaper you change will be nasty. The worst are the first few while the baby's body is getting used to being in the world and eating the milk you will be feeding baby. It is very enjoyable, even if you are a busy-body and cannot be still like I am.

One thing to be careful with is the umbilical cord once you get the baby home. Let me tell you, it will fall off just like the doctor tells you it will, when it is good and ready. Do not rush it. I did not change ANY diapers until it fell off. My wife did all of that because I was too scared to.

If the baby is drying, he is usually wet, hungry, or just wants to be picked up. If nothing works, I would just pick him up and walk around the house talking to him.

As your baby grows he will get more mobile and it is very exciting. I cannot wait until my baby is walking on his own. I think he is a little lazy. Please take the baby outside as much as you can and I took my boy hiking at 8 days old. The doctor said it was fine, and now, he loves the outdoors so much that if he is crying, he will completely stop as soon as you go outside. It is a very cool thing.

I encourage everyone who reads this, especially 1st time dads, to leave a comment and let me and everyone else know of your experiences raising a baby(s). Thank you for reading!

Congratulations on being a new dad, it is truly a wonderful experience. It is amazing how much you learn from them. I believe taking the time to build lasting family memories is one of the most important things we can do.
