Although you may be able to still open the door with a broken door handle, the broken handle can make exiting a vehicle more difficult, especially for those unfamiliar with it, and possibly increase risk to the occupants of the vehicle in emergency situations - Thus is is important that door handles be intact and operate correctly.

Replacing an interior broken door handle on a 93 Honda Accord and other similar vehicles is not a difficult job. This repair job can be successfully completed by someone with basic hand tools and does not require extensive knowledge about car repair.

Required Tools and Parts

Besides the replacement part, you probably already own most of the tools required to do this job. You will need a phillips screwdriver, needlenose pliers and the replacement door handle to complete this job. The replacement door handle for a Honda Accord can be found at Amazon, Auto Parts stores or junk yards.

Repair Procedure

Repairing a broken door handle will take approximatly thirty minutes. These steps are documented more fully and include reference photographs in the article referenced below; however, the basic steps required to replace the door handle include:

  1. Removing the screw holding the existing door handle in place.
  2. Removing the old door handle.
  3. Disconnecting the door handle connector and lock switch connector.
  4. Installing the lock switch onto the new door handle.
  5. Reconnecting the lock switch connector and door handle connecter.
  6. Putting the new door handle in position.
  7. Replacing the retaining screw holding the door handle in place.
